Lyrics
- Enemy
When I walk I keep one of my eyes locked
over my shoulder, and I think it's starting
to take its toll on my psyche.
I just might be resigned to nothing more
than just an enemy of the state of confusion.
That bridge was fine before you burned it.
I've learned if you wanna succeed you've
gotta have more - a little more than what you need.
But even the essentials get detrimental and there's
something special about an enemy of the state of confusion.
Maternal unit, I am only here because of your indiscretions.
I am only here to breathe life into nothing at all.
I am only here for...something...but it's something I must have forgot.
Take the sins of my father, and that's just for starters.
I think this martyr's coming to town, time for a confession
or two. You should've been more specific.
I almost missed it. There's something, they say, prolific
about an enemy of the state of confusion.
Paternal unit, I am only here because of your indiscretions.
I am only here to breathe life into nothing at all.
I am only here for...something...but it's something I must have forgot.

- Dodo
Something's up tonight
Something just ain't right
I got nothing to lose, something to prove
and I'm holding a picture tight.
Drawing on the walls.
Ignoring all my calls.
Losing some sleep and it ruins me deep
so I really wouldn't walk that tall.
Pick up the phone, make that call, and spend my night on the floor.
[chorus]
Going the way of the dodo
La-dadidadadidat-dat-da
Going the way of the dodo
Go, go go!
Pick one you like for the rest of your life sure did them lots of good.
I sure miss dear ol' dad
Dressed up all in plaid
And just like him I fell in love a few times
can't really say it's always been bad.
Something's up tonight.
Everything's alright.
A needle, a knife or a feeling of life
there ain't nobody steal my fight.
Pick up the phone, make that call and spend my night in the bed.
[chorus]
Going the way of the dodo
La-dadidadadidat-dat-da
Going the way of the dodo
Go, go go!
Pick one you like for the rest of your life sure did them lots of good.
Someone's always first.
Sometimes it feels like a curse...
but even when I'm down, I find it profound
that things could always get worse.
Two or more, one or none - don't be afraid to have fun.
Go, go, go.

- The Empath Less Travelled
We just want to exist, eat, sleep, fuck and make noise.
Live a good life, or we get beaten with poise.
I wonder now what a full life really is.
What really makes us stand?
Those who don't understand make the rules of law.
Us, who live under the sand, fight back with our claws.
Who owns the empath?
And who owes the empath apologies?
Now I'm verily known to few.
Life blood shows right through because
now, we're exposed at the wrists - try and die with the most toys.
Nobody knows what it is, that let's us give in to these ploys.
What of authority through confusion?
I wonder where that stands.
Survival, interlocked with the stocks. Some milk it for all that it's worth.
We're tribal, but stopped by the shock - my ilk has suffered since birth.
Who owns the empath?
And who owes the empath apologies?

About The Rectangle Club
Formed in the early months of 2005 in Massachusetts by singer/guitarist Shane Hall, The Rectangle Club is a 4 piece rock band that tastefully blends elements of blues, rock, punk and folk into an energetic live performance.
While a Rectangle Club show is typically driven by their repertoire of mature original songs, they have a knack for covering semi-obscure tunes and making them completely their own. Such covers include Heartbreak Hotel (Elvis Presley), Kill the Poor (Dead Kennedys) and Bad Reputation (Reverend Horton Heat).
The original material explores both the negatives and the positives of the human condition. This is the kind of rock and roll that seeks to get your brain working just as hard as your body, and they refuse to underestimate the intelligence of the audience while they are at it.
